I Shut My Eyes and All the World Drops Dead
Hi, hello, bonjour! Right, so about me. Well, my name’s Leigh Ann, and I’m probably most definitely too fucking old to be on Tumblr, but, you know, we all have our vices, and mine just happen to be red wine, the occasional cigarette, and making a fool of myself on a social networking site.
I’m a former English professor, so naturally I love to read, and I fancy myself something of a writer. I suppose I should mention the things in which I take great pleasure, yes? Well, books, of course, and those by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Jane Austen, Marilynne Robinson, Ayn Rand, Peter Cameron, J.K. Rowling, et al in particular. I love poetry—my favorites are Wordsworth, Keats, Charles Wright, Wallace Stevens, Theodore Roethke, T.S. Eliot, and Seamus Heaney. As for other forms of entertainment, my taste in television runs along the Doctor Who, Sherlock, House, Top Gear, Skins (UK), The Office (UK) line. I adore music of all sorts—from pop to opera, and some of my favorites include The Doors, Radiohead, Beethoven, Laura Marling, ABBA, Iron & Wine, Vivaldi, Tori Amos, The Decemberists, Loretta Lynn, Edith Piaf, Rachmaninov, Florence & the Machine, Elvis Costello, Travis, Blur, Oasis, Glen Hansard, Rufus Wainwright, Jeff Buckley, Ours, Muse, Massive Attack, Portishead, Ryan Adams, Pulp, Ray LaMontagne, Scissor Sisters, Tricky, Shudder to Think, Bruckner, and The Vines.
Um…other things I enjoy: good conversation, cleverness, intelligent people, alcohol, and all things British.
